TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:

Music is an enormously important part of everyone's lives. Even people who claim that they don't listen to music or play music are affected by music--perhaps without even realizing it. Music is in film, television, advertising; it plays in restaurants and at social gatherings.
My philosophy when it comes to teaching music is to make the learning experience of each individual unique, inspiring, and of course educational. My goal is to encourage as much growth as possible, but to understand that everyone is at a different level of ability and has different wants and needs along their individualized musical journey.
I generally begin by finding which artists, songs, and genres inspire each student and motivated them to pick up an instrument and start learning. I often will teach songs from the chosen artists, songs, or genres and try to work my way into teaching music theory so the student can develop a deeper understanding and love for the art of music. I also very much encourage collaboration. Some of the greatest compositions were the results of collaborative efforts between several artists. Whether music is a hobby, a career; whether a person strives to perform for an audience or simply wants it for their own self enjoyment, I aim to deliver a memorable experience for each and every student.
